Practical Learning in Aviation – Applying Theory to Real Life

Our Supplementary Ground School

What's this all about?

In October of 2021, Facebook has chosen Daniel and Canadian Flight Trainers to trial their new online learning platform called Facebook Classes. In response, we took a poll across several Facebook groups and other social media platforms to see what students would want out of a supplementary ground school course. With this feedback, we were able to design a 7 week course beginning October 28th. Classes will be up to 2 hours long, each Thursday evening at 7 pm eastern time.

What's the cost?

An early bird price of $99.99 has been established for the course which gives access to all classes. Prices go up to $119.99 on October 23rd. Proceeds collected from the course will be donated to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Who is CAMH? Why are you donating to them?

CAMH is Canada’s largest mental health hospital and a top global mental health research centre. Breakthrough discoveries pioneered here have contributed to some of the most significant advances in mental health care. Continued investment in mental health research at CAMH will accelerate new discoveries that lead to life-saving treatments for people around the world.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, many pilots have found themselves struggling silently. Although we are used to “having control,” the pandemic has had other plans for us. Your donation will help inspire those suffering to seek out help and recover in a timely manner.

There is a Prize?

Yes! All students who pay for the course and attend at least half of the classes, including the first and last, will be eligible to win a Brightline Flex B7 Flight Bag and Lost Aviator Coffee. A minimum of 4 students must be enrolled in the course to be eligible for this offer.

Where do I sign up?

Students who wish to register can do so here.

Can I get a Refund?

Students are eligible for a full refund up to 48 hours before the first class.

What topics will be covered?

Topics will include:

  • Practical Meteorology
  • Flight Test Preparation
  • CPL/PPL Exam Preparation
  • Practical Airspace and Navigation
  • Commercial/Airline Pilot Theory, including discussions on the life of an airline pilot

How is the Course Delivered?

The course will be delivered using Facebook’s Classes platform available on the event page. Students will be able to participate in prearranged learning activities which are design to promote deep learning.

The course is synchronous with weekly sessions held Thursday nights from October 28th to December 9th.
